Introducing the Blockworks MCP: Our data, your agents

Blockworks MCP is live. Plug ChatGPT, Claude or any AI agent into every dataset we have and build whatever you can imagine.

By Blockworks ·

There has never been a better time to build. One person with an agent can ship in a weekend what used to take a team a quarter, and the people building go well past engineers: analysts, product teams, designers, marketers, sellers, and anyone with an idea.

The one thing an agent can't do is discern the data underneath it. A model can't tell a good number from a bad one, and a stale figure still comes back as a clean, confident chart.

So we're opening everything up. Blockworks MCP gives your agent the same standardized, sourced data behind our research and Blockworks Intel. It finds the right dataset in our catalog on its own, pulls what it needs, and gets to work.

We built with it first

We have a Slack channel where everyone at Blockworks shares what they build with our MCP.

In just the last two days, our events team built an investor report to hand allocators at DAS. An analyst posted a valuation scoreboard that checks whether protocol revenue reaches token holders, with comps and an unlock tracker. Another teammate asked Claude for the 20 largest tokens by revenue and got back a chart of revenue growth against returns in one shot.

The possibilities are endless.

What your agent can build

A chart in your house style

Ask for monthly volume share across the five largest perp DEXes over the past year, in your firm’s colors, with Blockworks as the source. The agent pulls a year of volume for each venue, works out the shares, and builds the chart.

A quarterly P&L for any app

Ask for a DeFi app's income statement for the quarter. The agent takes the fees users paid as the top line, subtracts what went to depositors and liquidity providers, and shows what the protocol kept.

An analysis with the work shown

Ask whether mindshare leads price for the 20 largest L1 tokens over the past year. The agent pulls both series, runs lagged correlations, charts what it finds, and writes up the result.

A weekly memo on a schedule

Set the agent to run every Friday at 3pm. It pulls price and volume moves for your watchlist, unlocks due in the next 30 days, new funding in your sectors, and the week’s most important news. Then it writes a one-page memo with a source for every number and sends it to your team.

A dashboard that stays current

Describe the dashboard you want to your agent, like stablecoin supply by chain and issuer with the biggest 90-day movers, and the agent builds it from the Blockworks MCP. The data refreshes every day, so the dashboard is current whenever someone opens it, and there's no pipeline for your team to maintain.

An agent that watches overnight

Tell it to scan every chain and protocol overnight for anything unusual and explain what it finds. When Robinhood Chain's REV jumped 12x in a single week in August, an agent on our data would have flagged it by morning with the news behind the move.

For exchanges, brokerages and banks

With our MCP, you keep the model, the prompts, and the interface, and our team keeps the data current. At a financial institution, that looks like this:

  1. A listing packet in minutes. Before the committee meets, the agent pulls a token's supply and unlock schedule, funding history, Token Transparency Framework disclosures, governance votes, and news into one sourced packet.
  2. A review of every listed asset. The agent flags the names that need a second look, whether that's volume that's dried up, a big unlock coming, or disclosures that have gone stale.
  3. An explainer on every asset page. A brokerage gets an overview for every token it lists, covering what the project does, how it makes money and what changed this week. It refreshes daily.
  4. A tokenized stock tracker. The agent tracks supply, holders and DEX volume for every tokenized stock by issuer and chain, next to the price of the underlying stock.
  5. A daily stablecoin brief. A bank that issues or holds stablecoins gets a morning read on supply by issuer and chain, mints and burns, and where the supply sits.
  6. A counterparty file before onboarding. Before taking on a crypto company as a client, the KYB team gets its funding history, investors, acquisitions, disclosures and news in one sourced file.

How it works

In ChatGPT, add the official Blockworks plugin. In Claude, Cursor, or any other MCP client, paste one URL and sign in once with your Blockworks API key. Setup guides for each client are at docs.blockworks.com.

It's the only MCP in the world that can return all of this in one place: prices, exchange data, onchain metrics, REV, protocol financials, stablecoins, tokenized stocks, tokenized commodities, ETFs, treasury companies, funding rounds, investors, M&A, token unlocks, mindshare, sentiment, issuer disclosures, research, news, governance proposals, diligence reports, conference transcripts and podcasts.

It runs on the same data models as the Blockworks API and Blockworks Intel, so the numbers match everywhere you see them.
