About this Chart

The number of unique addresses that paid a transaction fee in the period. The total for each period is split between addresses active for the first time in the current period (New) and wallets active in any prior period (Existing).

Active addresses should not be used to measure "user" activity. It is an easily, and commonly, gamed metric that does not translate to the number of unique people or entities using a blockchain.
